Bakersfield is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. located in Kern County at the southern end of California's San Joaquin Valley (Central Valley) between the southern tip of the Sierra Nevada mountain range featuring the beautiful Sequoia National Forest to the east and the Temblor mountain range to the west which is home to the Carrizo Plain National Monument. To the south of Bakersfield, you will find historic Tejon Ranch nestled in the Tehachapi mountains and heading north on highway 99 the city of Fresno.
Offering many types of activities and natural attractions, Bakersfield boasts one of the fastest flowing rivers in the U.S., the Kern River, where you can enjoy rafting and other outdoor activities such as biking and roller blading along the Kern River Parkway. Other recreational activities include fishing and other water sports that can be enjoyed at many of the surrounding lakes, or if you prefer, the Sequoia National Forest offers hunting, camping and skiing.
